Dominik Klouth is the second student to complete the practical part of his dual studies at ACT in the marketing department. Here he tells us about his impressions during his first weeks at work.
Vor etwa 3 Monaten, im Oktober 2015, habe ich mein duales Studium im Bereich “Marketing Management“ bei ACT begonnen.
I’m completing the theory phases at the IUBH University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf. I decided to study marketing because this field is very diverse and future-oriented. Due to my specialization in online marketing, I chose ACT as my practice company because the company’s marketing department is expanding its online activities. The advantage of the dual study program is being able to alternate between theory and practice, thus gaining theoretical and practical knowledge at the same time. The theoretical knowledge can be applied very quickly in practice and the activities from practical operations can be transferred to theory. Not only that, you prepare for your future working life during your studies. The weekly alternation of theory and practice makes it possible to maintain an optimal rhythm and never lose track of certain topics.
My first impression of ACT was very positive, which was confirmed over the following weeks. After my interview, I was already sure that ACT was the perfect practical company for my dual studies. I feel very comfortable here. They made me feel really welcome when I started and there is a very friendly and familiar atmosphere. In the first few weeks, I was able to gain insights into the various departments of the company, which gave me a great opportunity to get to know the employees and understand the individual activities in the departments. In the first few days, I worked my way through the sales department, the proofreading department, the DTP department and vendor management to see how the various areas of the company’s work are interlinked. After that, I spent some time in project management, which is a very important area of the company because that’s where the order processing takes place. Since the beginning of the new year, I have been working in the marketing department. It’s a very diverse area and I am looking forward to the coming weeks, as I will gain more and more insights into this exciting area with all its varied tasks. I am sure that the time ahead will be as much fun and positive for me as the past weeks have been.
